About The Author

Ralph Kennedy Pope

Ralph Kennedy Pope is a writer, historian, and former corporate executive whose life and work have been deeply shaped by the generation that fought in the Second World War.

His connection to that era is personal as well as historical. His father served in the European theater during the war and later rose to the rank of general in the United States Army, while his mother served as an Army nurse during the same conflict. Their experiences, and the stories of their brothers, comrades, and fellow servicemen, sparked Ralph’s lifelong interest in preserving the voices of that remarkable generation.

Before turning his focus fully to writing and historical storytelling, Ralph built a distinguished career in the aerospace and technology sectors. He served as a Vice President and senior lawyer at Northrop Grumman, one of the United States’ leading defense and aerospace companies. He later became General Counsel of Siemens Enterprise Communications, where he worked on global technology and communications initiatives during a period of rapid digital transformation.

Ralph holds a Master of Laws degree from Cambridge University, a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, and a Bachelor’s degree from Eisenhower College. Over the course of his professional life, his work spanned law, technology, and international business, but his enduring passion remained history—particularly the lived experiences of those who witnessed the defining events of the twentieth century.

After decades in the technology and defense industries, Ralph increasingly devoted himself to researching and writing about World War II. His work aims to preserve the memories of those who experienced the war firsthand, ensuring that their voices and sacrifices are not lost as time passes.

Ralph now lives in California, where he continues to research, write, and collect the stories of a generation whose voices are steadily fading from living memory.

Fading Witnesses

fiction with real-life testimony, the book follows three soldiers—American, British, and Soviet—as they confront the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust at Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen, and Auschwitz, revealing not only the liberation of the camps but the lifelong burden carried by those who survived to tell the story. Interwoven with these narratives are the author’s own family memories: an artillery officer father, a battlefield nurse mother, and relatives who bore the scars of war in silence
